CrossPoint Church Covenant
We have been led by the Holy Spirit to commit our lives to our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, and to be baptized according to His command. Therefore, in the presence of God and this assembly of believers we joyfully covenant with one another to endeavor to lead lives pleasing to Him and to use our spiritual gifts to build up one another and the church.
By the aid of the Holy Spirit we will strive to forsake the ways of sin and to walk together in Christian love and righteousness. We promise to work for the peace and purity of this church and to cherish its worship, ordinances, discipline, and doctrines. We will contribute faithfully time, talent, and money in the measure God prospers each of us. It is our desire that this church and its worldwide ministries might effectively spread the Good News of salvation in Jesus.
We shall seek to maintain family and personal devotions and to teach God's Word to our children. We promise to share with relatives, friends, and others how they might become God's children. We will undertake to be exemplary in our behavior by setting our hearts and minds on things above, not on earthly things (Colossians 3:2). With God's help we will not permit ourselves to be stumbling blocks or obstacles in our brother's way (Romans 14:13). We recognize that our bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit. We shall strive to honor God with our bodies by avoiding all practices that bring harm to our bodies and to others (I Corinthians 6:20). We will follow the spiritual leadership and authority of the elder board, pastor(s), and leadership council who are under the authority of God (Hebrews 13:17). We want Christ to be pre-eminent in our lives and our church.
We agree to pray for each other and to watch over one another in brotherly love. We will seek to help each other in case of sickness or distress. We will seek to be courteous and gracious, slow to take offense but always ready to seek reconciliation without delay. We pledge to encourage one another in the blessed hope of the Lord's return.
